"Singing For The Planet" Concert Report

by WarrenS

Last Saturday, June 12, we held a concert in Boston.

"Singing For The Planet" featured the Latin Jazz of Mili Bermejo, Warren Senders (that's WarrenS to you!) performing Hindustani music, and the great Jazz singer Dominique Eade — almost three hours of singing!  And the best part of it was that we raised a little over eight hundred dollars for www.350.org.

This was the second of what I hope will be many such concerts.  Last year I put on a huge show as part of the International Day of Climate Awareness on October 24.  "Playing For The Planet" had six different acts and went on for almost four hours.

Everybody agreed that while it was fun, they thought it went on a little too long.  Furthermore, the logistics of arranging six different performing groups was just too daunting.  Three?  Three I could handle.  So I made some calls to some friends in the singing world...

Follow me below the flip for a full concert report with photographs and video!

Boston Area Kossacks: Come to Saturday's Climate Concert!

by WarrenS

This is an update of a previously posted diary. On October 24, 2009, I put on a benefit concert for 350.org in my philosophical hometown, the People's Republic of Cambridge.  It was a big success, raising a tad over $1500, and I swore I'd do it again. So I'm doing it again.  Follow me below the flip to find out about an upcoming event featuring three great traditions of song — with all proceeds going to benefit www.350.org.  This new, improved diary version now includes music videos of each performer, so you can whet your appetite! If you live in Massachusetts (oh, hell, I'll be optimistic and say "If you live in New England") you should try and make it down.  And if you can't, let your friends who do live in Massachusetts know.  Let's fill the hall!
