From the Guardian:
In an appearance before Congress, Bill Lehr, a senior scientist at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) offered a very different account of the oil that poured into the Gulf, appearing to contradict the official report from two weeks ago that he wrote, which suggested the majority of the oil had been captured or broken down
"I would say most of that is still in the environment," Lehr told the House energy and commerce committee.
His statement is bound to deepen a sense of outrage in the scientific community that the White House is hiding data and spinning the science of the oil spill.
Some thoughts on offshore oil drilling.... crossposted at my blog, http://lurkerspace.blogspot.com/
It should have been a no-brainer that quick eradication of months of erupting oil into the Gulf might still have some lingering impacts that is likely to threaten the health of wildlife, the Gulf, and the planet for well into the future.
New research confirms this, according the New York Times report:

(I'm not sure if this has been diaried yet--if it has, I will take this diary down.
Also, I have to post and run, but will return later to take part in commenting.)
AP is reporting that, in a letter send to BP earlier this month, Transocean, the owner of the ill-fated Deepwater Horizon rig, is claiming that BP is withholding information critical to determining the cause of the accident there earlier this year.

The 7.5-megawatt (MW) Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm is the first wind farm to be built in New Jersey, and the first coastal wind farm in the United States. The wind farm is located in Atlantic County, NJ and is visible to more than 30 million Atlantic City visitors each year from downtown Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Expressway. The project produces approximately 19 million kilowatt-hours of emission-free electricity per year, which is enough emission-free energy to power over 2,000 homes
Favorable winds are advancing the cause of windpower in the State of New Jersey

A fascinating post just appeared on the Public Servant Blog: "The top 20 urban planning successes of all time."
We need help from artists—we need them to help with an artwork bigger than humans have ever built before, the first global-scale group show. It’s going to be slightly wild, and very beautiful.
