The Corporations Want their Country Back! BP funding Tea Party Climate Zombie Campaigns

by worldforallpeopleorg

BP and several other big European companies are funding the midterm election campaigns of Tea Party favourites who deny the existence of global warming or oppose Barack Obama's energy agenda, the Guardian has learned.

I'm sure a lawyer could tell us how that is somehow not a case of foreign corporations influencing American elections? ( They're outta be a law!) But this is worse than a corporate take-over of a nation.

This is a deliberate and knowing corporate manipulation of the gullible minds out there that buy into Rush's lies - and Inhofe's and Palin's and Beck's insanities - against the facts, to the detriment of Americans and people everywhere. You can help. Send the following facts to the climate zombie/denialist nearest you:

The Week in Editorial Cartoons, Part I - New GOP Campaign Slogan: Monosexuality=Bad

by JekyllnHyde

Christine O'Donnell by Taylor Jones, Politicalcartoons.com, Buy this cartoon

Christine O'Donnell is fast becoming the face of the Republican Party.  Her campaign slogan is -- to put it in Marxist language -- power to the people.  Or, something like that. To quote an oft-used phrase on the internet(s) and one used frequently on this blog, "Teh stoopid! It burns."

Time permitting, I will try to post Part II of this diary later on this week.

VIDEO: Sarah Palin as Talk Show Host Highlights GOP Senate Candidates Climate Denial

by TonyMassaro

Today, the League of Conservation Voters launched a new web video that highlights the rampant denial of settled climate science among many Republican Senate candidates running as challengers or in open seat races this election cycle. The animated video is headlined by a proud Sarah Palin who runs through the list of some of the climate denying candidates with glee on her talk show "Tea Time with Sarah Palin". Featured candidates include Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson, Colorado’s Ken Buck, California’s Carly Fiorina and more. Check it out here:

Good plan

by Jed Lewison

So yesterday was declared an official day of prayer to plug BP's leaking well by state governors along the Gulf Coast (plus Alaskan half-termer Sarah Palin).

Meanwhile, also yesterday:

Oil spill makes first landfall on Mississippi mainland, hits Alabama beaches

Countless patches of light oil sheen moved into waters north of the barrier islands of Alabama and Mississippi on Sunday, as brown and orange blobs washed ashore from Orange Beach to as far west as Ocean Springs.

Boats worked to corral iridescent sheen just north of Dauphin Island's Katrina cut Sunday morning.

A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast for Sunday showed the main body of light oil completely surrounding Dauphin Island for the first time since oil started pouring into the Gulf of Mexico in late April.

I've got a prayer: God save us from these idiots.

Sarah Palin's Supposed Energy Expertise Backfires. Again.

by Avenging Angel

During the 2008 campaign, John McCain said of his running mate Sarah Palin, "She knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America."  As it turns out, not so much.  The half-term Alaska Governor literally had no idea how much energy her state produced and suffered from selective amnesia over the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill that devastated her coastlines.  Now, after Palin accused President Obama of being in bed with big oil, even the Wall Street Journal took her to task for getting it comically wrong.

Rumors of debarment for BP

by DWG

In what would be the most fitting punishment for BP's many crimes, there are rumors that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering debarment for the company. Debarment is somewhere between corporal and capital punishment for scofflaw companies. The most severe form is "discretionary debarment," which would cancel all government contracts and leases on federal lands, a move that would cost BP at least 16 billion dollars a year. An article in ProPublica by Abrahm Lustgarten discusses the prospects for debarment for BP and gives even a cynic like me reason to smile. Let me touch on the points that had me licking my canine teeth.

Sorry Sarah, money can't fix this. Updated: Sarah and WH trade jabs

by Kristina40

So I'm sitting here nursing another Mad Max Macondo (aka OilGusher) inspired hangover and I come across this gem from Sister Grifter.   WASHINGTON -- Sarah Palin says she remains a "big supporter of offshore drilling" despite the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. But Palin also tells "Fox News Sunday" that oil companies need to be held accountable. Suddenly I am struck with an epiphany!  Follow me across the crease for more...
