Most Successful Conspiracy Theory Evah

Every once in a while I stand in awe at the ability of the greatest conspiracy theorists in the universe who are able to somehow convince millions of people that their concoction of falsehoods, misinterpretations, omissions of critical facts and outright lies are true and that there really is a massive conspiracy among thousands upon thousands of people, governments, corporations and even the military to lie to us in order to hide a terrible truth.

No, I'm not talking about the birthers, or the 9/11 Truthers, or the Free Masons/Illuminati fruitcakes. I'm talking about these guys: the ones who say Global Warming is a Hoax.

Saudis block key Climate Study - EKos

There is one disturbing diary up now about Saudi Arabia and here is one more. It turns out that Saudi Arabia has convinced Qatar and Kuwait to join together to block a U.N. Climate Change study, in an apparent effort to protect their Oil Based Economy. While there has been an orchestrated effort by Fossil Fuel lobbyists to weaken international Climate Change legislation, this is the first time a state Government has openly blocked reforms. The immediate losers are the people who are members of A.O.S.I.S. - the Alliance of Small Island States - and what they have to lose by this action. crossposted at Huffington Post, Square State,  and PRAER.org

What Are You Gonna Do With All That Rage?

There is a diary on the rec list today and it's title includes All the Rage in the Known Universe is Inadequate. As you can see when you scroll through the diary (I was unable to look after the first couple of photos) it is photos of birds covered in oil from the BP caused oil gusher in the Gulf of Mexico. The photos are horrible records of suffering and do bring increased feelings of rage, sadness and helplessness. We don't yet know if the oil gusher was caused by willful negligence, incompetence or a combination of the two, that will be determined by the Obama administration commission to investigate the oil gusher. We must know by now that it was caused by our addiction to oil and our reliance on oil to maintain our position atop the list of world's largest oil consumers.
